Leaking hydraulic pump on 1985 Case 648L

Our Case 648L has a slow hydraulic leak from the pump shaft seal, leaving those annoying oil spots. Unfortunately, we don't have a manual to consult for clear instructions on pump removal. I'm hoping to repair it ourselves and maybe replace the pump shaft seal but we're not really sure if this is a job for a DIYer. Are there also other parts we need to check? Any thoughts and advice? Thanks!

If you're already pulling the pump, consider replacing the entire pump rather than just the seal. Older Case pumps can be unreliable after seal failures, and a new unit avoids repeat breakdowns.
