The previous owner of my now new 4118 said that he had a problem with the jack shaft and he fixed, it. No idea what he meant by fixing it, but now there's a noticeable vibration. Is the problem with the shaft or is it something else?

Sounds like the jack shaft might still be the culprit but could also be a worn bearing. Is everything tightened up properly and balanced? Are you getting weird noises along with the vibration?

If the previous owner said it was "fixed," assume it wasn't. Half the time, guys just weld something sketchy and call it good. If you're feeling vibration, your jackshaft's either bent, misaligned, or he slapped in junk bearings. I'd strip it down...

If you're noticing shaft vibration, it often indicates issues like worn universal joints, a bent shaft, or misalignment following a repair. It's a good idea to start by checking the U-joints since they frequently fail and are pretty easy to replace. Hopefully this has already been addressed.
