Bought an awesome Ingersoll 446

I love tractors, always want to buy more haha. Found this baby, a case ingersoll 446 complete with the cab, tiller, plow blade, snowblower, and deck, also has a 3 point hitch and rear hydro PTO. I think it's a steal!
It's in good condition, but the steering is kind of sloping. After two gears, the control steering doesn't seem to cooperate. Can the hole on the bigger gear become bad over time? Is there a neutral setting on the rear PTO? Which setting should I leave when I'm not using it?
The cab doesn't fit with this tractor, if anyone local wants it, I can sell it to you.

congrats on the find, sounds like good catch. the rear pto is hydraulic so theres no classic neutral position meaning you can just leave disengaged to avoid too much load on the system. the gears should be close enough so a bit of play can be a problem you might solve with some bushings

Still, congrats! How much did you get it for? If the steering is quite faulty do check the gear wear. Do check the tie rods and bushings, too. They might be worn out! Anyway, about the cab, you can maybe offer it to someone with a compatible model. Try listing on eBay maybe?

for the rear PTO, yes, there should be a neutral setting, usually, you just leave it in neutral when not in use to avoid unnecessary wear. Shame about the cab not fitting, but sounds like someone could definitely use it.

I'd say your needs. for a larger area you'd need a more powerful tractor and a bigger one at that and for smaller areas you can get away for something smaller and not as powerful. You should also consider attachments, drivetrain, transmission, tbh all specs are crucial
